John David Mease

John David Mease, 69, of Candler, died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at the CarePartners Solace Center. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of Euphemia Rogers Hawkins and the late Doyle Mease. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Inman. Mr. Mease attended Erwin High School and retired from Hyman Young Greenhouses. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife Alberta; daughter Audrey Inman and husband Ted; son John Mease Jr., and wife Kelly; grandchildren, Madisyn, Alyvia, and Kayla (Mark); great-granddaughter Millie; step-daughters Connie Woods (Dennis) and Jewel Suttles; six step grandchildren; nine step great-grandchldren; sister Maxine Hatherlee; brothers James Hawkins, Daniel and Phillip Mease; step-sisters Inez and Alma; and special cat Buzzy. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Revs. Don Austin and Kevin Bates officiating. Interment will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home.
