Wayne Howard "W.H." Stines, 80, of Asheville, died on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at the CarePartners Solace Center. Born in Madison Co., W.H. was a son of the late Wayne Hamilton and Juanita Miller Stines. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Griffin; sisters, Mary Frances Webb and Doris Shipman; and brother, Kevin Stines. Mr. Stines worked for many years at T.G. Lee Dairy, beginning as a delivery man, and retiring as a division manager. He attended Cedar Hill Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Stines is survived by his wife Elina Stines; daughter, Waynette Scruggs; sons, Calvin Stines and Daniel Stines; sister, Janice Rice; brother, Charles M. Stines; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Boone officiating. Interment will follow at Dry Pond Cemetery. His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

  5. I first met Wayne over 33 years ago. He was friends with my son’s Grandfather,Steve Freeman,also of Marshall.Wayne often so proudly spoke of his family especially of his daughter Waynette. When he spoke of her,his face began to glow and his eyes began to sparkle.he indeed held a very special place in her Daddy’s Heart.It was n honor knowing Wayne. I sat many hours listening to him and Steve tell me stories of how things were back in as they put it, Hard times.My condolences to the family.

I meet Wayne when owed the French Broad Community Store and we became good friends, he always tried to help people and was a good hearted man, he was not ashamed to talk about the Lord and tell people about the right way I know he will be missed very much but I also know he is a fair better place than this sinful world my prayers are with the family and pray that God will help and bless each one of you.

    I had coffee 2or3 times a month with him he will be missed
