David (Uncle Dave to us) was actually the reason my husband I met 46 years ago. He was always our friend and passed away one day after my husband passed away. He was a great friend.
I was sadden to hear of David’s passing. I remember him fondly as when I worked at the old S&W Caferteria David came in quite often and we became friends. Lots of times, after I was married, I would see David walking and I would stop and give him a ride. He was such a gentleman and I knew he was very talented. I moved away from Asheville after my husband’s death and had not seen him in years. I will always remember him as a kind, gentle man. My deepest sympathy to the whole family and to the Spurrier family, thank you for being his friend.
Sincerely,
Peggy Guest-Totherow
As our family & friends knew him as ‘UNCLE DAVE’, he was a very intelligent & kind gentleman. My brother & sisters never had an uncle related to us, we had something better, UNCLE DAVE! He introduced my Momma & Daddy to each other, and they shared 43 years together. My Daddy died one day before UNCLE DAVE. We know he was sent on this earth for our family. He would always try to tell my parents how to raise us, but they just let him talk (and boy could he talk) and go on with the way they were raising us. He would always say HEY! HEY! HEY!, when we would do something to really upset him. I will never forget him, he was more special than a real uncle could ever be. He will be greatly missed, for we loved him very, very much!
Love,
Roxie
