Harold Lee "Smokey" Davis, 82, of Leicester, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, September 14, 2017. A Leicester native, Harold was the son of the late Eugene Nathan and Susie Teague Davis. Mr. Davis was a truck driver for many years and had retired as a driver for Ingles Markets. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joncilee Ray Davis; son, Kenneth Davis (Beckie); daughter, Jeanne Morgan (Ricky); grandchildren, Vicky (Daniel), Brandon (Kelly), Amanda and Austin; three great-grandchildren and "doubles" on the way. The funeral service for Mr. Davis will be held at noon on Saturday at Beulah Baptist Church, Leicester, with the Rev. Ricky Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. His family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that memorials be made to Beulah Baptist Church, c/o Marlene Weaver, 373 N. Turkey Creek Rd., Leicester, NC 28748. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

    We are so sorry to read about Smokey’s passing. It is so hard to give up your loved one but cherish your memories. He is now free of all his health problems and has a new body. He is in a better place now and will be with all his loved ones gone on before him. He is up in heaven with our parents, Elmer and Ila, too. Again you have our deepest sympathy and are in our thoughts and prayers.

  5. Joncilee and children I can still remember Kenneth coming out to play with Edward I am so sorry about Harold passing. But he is not hurting anymore. He is in a better place. Our prayers are with you and family.
