Nathan Joseph Cain, 40, of Decatur, Georgia passed away on November 9, 2017. He was born to Larry and Maria Corriols Cain in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 28, 1977. The family moved to Asheville, North Carolina where he spent his teenage years. He graduated from Carolina Day School in 1995. Nathan went on to graduate from Presbyterian College with a double major in biology and english and eventually received a master’s degree in mass communication from the University of Georgia. Always creative and clever, Nathan became a journalist and writer. He won an Associated Press Award for deadline reporting and published several short stories, one of which was nominated for an award by Spinetingler Magazine. He was a voracious reader and a reviewer of crime fiction novels in his free time. He was also an avid outdoorsman. He was quiet with a wry sense of humor and a kind, empathetic heart for those in need. He is survived by his parents Larry and Maria Cain of Fairview, NC; his brother Christopher of Fairview, NC; his sister Adrienne Cain Williams (Daniel) of Atlanta, GA and his fiancée Kathryn Smith of Decatur, GA.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16 from 6 to 8 pm at Groce Funeral Home (856 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805). I am truly sorry for the loss and pain that Kathryn and the Cain family and friends are feeling because of losing Nathan recently in death, way too soon. Most of us have had to endure the sorrow of losing a loved one in death. What helped me the most was prayer and faith in God’s promises like found here at 1 Corinthians 15: 26 and it tells us: ‘And the last enemy, death, is to be brought to nothing.’ God’s kingdom that Jesus taught us to pray for at Matt. 6: 9, 10 will bring about these wonderful promises, including the resurrection. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow, but we are all guaranteed a resurrection. (John 5:28, John 6:40, John 11:23-25) Jehovah God invites you to throw all your burdens on him and he will sustain you in your time of grief. Psalm 34:18 Again, the family is in my prayers and I offer my heartfelt condolences. Feel free to contact me if you wish at my email address; myranj@centurytel.net
