Bubbles Jones Marlowe, 93, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at her home at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Center, surrounded by the mountains she adored.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Mrs. Marlowe had lived in Asheville for most of her life. At a young age following the death of her parents, she assumed the responsibility of raising her two younger brothers.
She was a former volunteer coordinator with Thoms Rehabilitation Center and was active with the local Guardian ad Litem program. She was a member of Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church but had attended Episcopal services at Deerfield Chapel since moving there in 2003.
She was married for 50 years to the love of her life, Jack R. Marlowe. They were world travelers and founding members of the Asheville Ski Club. Jack died in 1999. She was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Marlowe.
Her family includes daughters, Bethany Marlowe and her husband, Kevin Cox, and Cathy Reichel and her husband, Dale Reichel; grandchildren, Andrew Marlowe Cox, Hannah Tomlinson and husband, Joshua, Sarah Durm and husband, Donald, Jonathan Reichel and Bethany Anne Marlowe; a great-grandson, Jack Marlowe; and two brothers, Charles Robin Britt and his wife, Susie, and David Britt, who was married to the late Mary Britt.
Bubbles was a "star" to her grandchildren, who knew her as "the Queen of Hearts." She made every event an occasion and will be remembered for her zest for life. One of her favorite sayings was "God is good."
A memorial service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the Deerfield Chapel, 1617 Hendersonville Road, with the Rev. Richard "Lin" Walton officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow in the Blue Ridge Room at Deerfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Guardian ad Litem program, 31 College Place, Building D, Suite 204, Asheville, NC 28801.

So sorry to hear about Bubbles I would visit her when I would take Pat Callison out I enjoyed sitting at the table with Bubbles & Pat and listen to them talk & laugh while eating Bubbles always have something to say that would put a smile one your face I would always tell her if I ever needed a outfit and earrings I knew where to come she said yes I can fix you up Bubbles will be missed by many
I always enjoyed being around Bubbles. She was so much fun and full of the joy of life.
I meet Bubbles in 1986. She was always a firey woman and said it like it was. She will be missed by many. Live it up Bubbles enjoy yourself in heaven.
My mom loved playing bridge with Bubbles! I feel certain they are having a good ole time catching up now in paradise.
So sorry to here this. Prayers if comfort said for the family. Mrs. Marlowe was a wonderful person. I have lots of fond memories of speading many nights there with Carhy. Very loving family.
Bubbles is remembered warmly by a number of people here at Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church. I express my sincere condolences to her family on behalf of the MHPC church family. May the God of all comfort be near you.
Bubbles was the Volunteer Coordinator at Thoms (Care Partners) when I volunteered through the Junior League. She was perfect for the position! The patients loved her as well as the staff.
