Marvin Thomas Raines, Sr., 71, of Waynesville, died on Friday, March 23, 2018.
A native of Henderson Co., Marvin was a son of the late Charlie Raines and Jewell Franks Raines. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Raines, and sister, Peggy Raines.
Marvin worked for many years as a painter. He was a hard worker who loved his job. In his spare time, he loved to camp and fish. He especially loved cooking for his family. It was always important to him that they were fed and taken care of.
Marvin is survived by his son, Marvin Thomas “Tom” Raines, Jr.; daughters, Kathryn Allison (Glenn) and Laura Goodson (Ricky); brothers, Gene Franks, Jimmy Raines, Johnny Raines (Toni), and Danny Raines; sisters, Clara Lawrence (Charles), Mary Lou Camby (David), and Joann Lunsford (James); and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The graveside service for Mr. Raines will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at New Salem Cemetery.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
