Pastor Cecil Eugene Robinson, of Mars Hill, NC, born on December 6, 1944 in Henderson County, NC, to the late Bessie Mae McIntosh Robinson and the late David Greenberry Robinson, was called home to be with the Lord at age 73 on August 31, 2018.
Cecil attended Tennessee Temple University and was the pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 29 years. Cecil was the beloved husband and best friend of Patricia King Robinson for over 54 years. He was a loving dad to three and the greatest papaw to 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preacher Robinson was a true servant of God and an inspiration to many. He performed mission work in Mongolia and Mexico as well as locally ministering at Universal Healthcare and the Rescue Mission. He also volunteered in Florida providing disaster relief following Hurricane Andrew. He loved ministering, telling jokes, cooking, golfing, traveling, and attending sports events. He spent many years volunteering as a coach and umpire for youth sports teams. Pastor Robinson was dedicated to his family and his church family. He was a compassionate and giving man who was always there for others in their time of need. He lived his life joyfully and was rarely seen without a smile on his face that would light up the room.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, David Caramel Robinson, Gay Robinson, Frank Robinson, Dewy Lee Robinson, and Earl Robinson; and sisters, Mary Lou Jamerson, Grace Ray, and Shirley Ann Robinson.
Cecil is survived by his sons, Michael Robinson and Dennis Gregory Robinson; daughter, Teresa Hernandez; brothers, Thomas Elic Robinson and Jerry Robinson; sisters, Betty Ray, Pansy Mae Hathaway, and Inez Quinn; grandchildren, Tabitha Thompson, Jonathon Schulz, Autumn Schulz, Veronica Hernandez, Marina Hernandez, Micaela Hernandez, Alejandro Hernandez, Savannah Robinson, Andrew Robinson, Mason Robinson, and David Robinson; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Minto, Ezekiel Minto, Gabriella Thompson, Aidan Schulz, Bentley Schulz, Kayleigh Schulz, Mackenzie Schulz, Violeta Hernandez, Julietta Moreno, Elaina Calderon, Eric Calderon, Geonie Lopez, and Julian Gomez.
Friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation on Sunday, September 2 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 270 Overlook Rd, Asheville, North Carolina, 28803-3317. Following the visitation, Pastor Cecil’s life will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m, officiated by David Woodie, Howell Rogers and Eric Haney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Preacher Robinson’s name to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Fellowship Building Fund, 270 Overlook Road, Asheville, NC 28803.

Prayers for your family. Cecil was truly a remarkable man. He was there for families day or night. Just like he was for my parents and Rodney’s parents. Heaven gained a wonderful addition this week. I am very sorry we won’t be able to attend the service because of my severe pain. We will be there in spirit and will be praying for the whole family

We are so sorry to hear Pastor Cecil is no longer with us but rejoice he is in his new heavenly home. He was a wonderful example of what a pastor should be like. God bless you all and surround you with his love.

What a time he is having now in Heaven. We all say like the song, ‘What a day that will be’ and now he has endless days there. I know his family and friends and the community will miss him. May God lift each of them up and show his grace. We will meet again and continue to praise His name together one day.
Prayers for all of the family during this time. Cecil made a lasting impression on our family. His love of people and his ways of showing it. Our mother and father are rejoicing with him in Heaven.
