Susan Gale Pierce, 61, of Bryson City, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at the CarePartners Solace Center in Asheville.
Born in San Diego, CA, Susan was a daughter of the late Morrison and Lavania Parnell Pierce.
Susan served as the Director of Code and Zoning for Broward County, FL, and retired as Director of the Broward County, FL Animal Shelter.
Surviving are her spouse, Dr. Marilia Rivera-Rios; sister, Kristen Pierce Shiffer; brother, William Pierce; and many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and loving fur-babies.
A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
She was a wonderful lady. My deepest sympathies from old friend from Broward County.
Working with Susan was truly an experience. Although we didn’t always get along, I know she had a good heart and did a lot for the department. My condolences to her friends and family. She will be missed by all.
