Ian Wesley Vine, 79, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at the CarePartners Solace Center.
A native of Detroit, MI, Ian was the son of the late Milton and Muriel McConalogue Vine. He was also preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Sandra Adair Vine.
Mr. Vine was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, and worked as an electrical engineer in the automobile manufacturing industry. He was a Mason, and an avid fan of Enka and Mars Hill Softball.
Surviving are his daughter, Sheryl Harris (Ernie); son, David Vine (Barbara); granddaughters, Jordan, Addison and Danielle Harris; and sister, Susan McDavid (Dan).
Funeral services and burial will be held in Michigan.
The family expresses a special note of thanks to the CarePartners Solace Center for their excellent care and compassion.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.

I am so sorry to hear about Ian’s passing. I didn’t get to know him well but the time I spent with him let me know they type of man he was and how much his family meant to him. The picture is perfect and that smile will remain with me.

As you cope with your loss, may you find comfort in knowing that God promises to put an end to all the things that have plagued mankind for centuries including pain and death (Revelation 21:3,4).
