Louise Jarrett Matheson

Louise Jarrett Matheson, 96, of 100 Wesley Drive, Givens Estates, died Tuesday, November 26, 2002, in an Asheville hospital. Mrs. Matheson was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Robert J. and Estelle Johnson Jarrett. She was married to George Arthur Matheson who died in 1995. She was retired after 28 years from the personnel department of Enka and since then served as a volunteer with over 18 years and 6000 hours at Memorial Mission Hospital. She had been a member of Central United Methodist Church since 1927. Surviving are two step-daughters, Linda Wilbur of Matthews, NC and Georgia Cowan of Raleigh; a step-son, Russell Matheson of Asheville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 3:00 pm Saturday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, 72 Long Shoals Road, with the Revs. Doug Tilley, Rob Blackburn, and Joe Fulk officiating.
