So sorry to hear about Art. He was always such a helpful, pleasant guy.
Art lit the studio up when ever he was there. We all know that he would have a funny story and would have us laughing soon after his arrival. He was a giving person. He was always ready to help anyone. He loved that he got to spend time with his grandchildren. He was an amazing potter. I loved his work. There will be a great void in the studio. I will miss him as well as many of the potters at Odyssey. My heart goes out to his children, grandchildren, and friends. We lost a great guy.
Art was a nice guy in high school with a sweet smile. May the Lord wrap his arms around each of you.
Art has always been such a kind and caring man. He loved his children with a passion. My thoughts and prayers will be with the family at this time. He will be missed by all who knew him. His pottery will be cherished by those of us lucky enough to have pieces he made.
This breaks my heart. I owe so much of my professional success to Art. I spent many hours learning from him and he was always there to answer my phone call when I needed help. He was such a kind man and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Rest In Peace Art.
Art was “stand-up” guy. Sadly, there aren’t very many of those anymore. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
We just learned of the passing of Art. He lived next door to my parents, Richard & Isabel Hornbeek in Tallahassee prior to moving to North Carolina. He always was such a kind and caring neighbor to me and my parents, and he sweetly looked in on them from time to time given their advanced years. We were grateful for his friendship and so pleased to see him recently in Tallahassee. Our prayers and sympathy go out to his family and especially his children and grandchildren whom he often spoke of and dearly loved. God bless you all.
I heard the fish run 24/7 in Heaven, God Bless.
I am so sorry to hear this very sad news. Art was my colleague at Lincoln and my pottery teacher, some 30+ years ago. He was an energetic, optimistic, supportive, and kind friend and teacher. Always full of life and motion, he was a positive force in his classroom at Lincoln, and then later at Leon. May many precious memories comfort his family and loved ones.
