Jerry Oneal Grooms, 76, of Candler, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020.

A native of Buncombe Co., Jerry was a son of the late Orville Wayne and Bonnie Burnette Grooms.

Mr. Grooms was the owner of Jerry’s Backhoe Service since 1963. He was also a member of the Moose Club.

Surviving are his son, Lewie Grooms (Melinda); grandson, Lewcus Grooms; one great-grandchild; brothers, Lane Grooms and Roger Grooms (Nancy); and beloved former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Childers.

Private graveside services will be held at Morning Star United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Louis Gibson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blue Ridge Cowboy Church, P.O. Box 363 Fairview NC 28730, or to Edgewood Baptist Church, 61 Moody Ave., Candler, NC 28715.

  5. Unfortunately I hadn’t seen my cousin Jerry in many years. But I always loved him. He was alway quick to help others and had a great disposition. I regret the loss to his immediate and extended family.
