  1. Dave was the nicest friendly and funny person that I ever met. We have been friends for a very long time. He will be missed by many. Prayers to his family.

  2. Dave always had a joke, a smile, and a twinkle in his eyes, especially when he introduced his sister, the Sister. That never got old. We’ll miss his Irish humor. He was a positive influence on the parish. His strong family values carried over to his parish ministries. Till we meet again, Captain Dave.

  3. No one had a better friend than “Sonny”. He was a great influence on how I lived my life. Rest In Peace, dear friend. Jim and Marcia Dunn

  6. Ill always remember my cousin Sonny who always brought the whoopie cushion to our family gatherings to see who he could fool this time! Always bringing a joke or a funny story along with him. He was just like his mother, my aunt Pete. I will miss you, dear Sonny.

  7. Sonny was my Godfather and never missed a chance to tell everyone he was “The Godfather” when I was around. Sonny never was without a smile on his face, a joke to tell, or a song to sing. He was truly one of the most special people that I will ever know. Dance and sing with your true love now, Sonny. I will love you forever. My deepest condolences to my dearest friends, all the Campbell’s. Love to you all.

  8. The good Lord has now welcomed our wonderful friend and neighbor into his heavenly kingdom to join those who have gone before. For over fifty years we have laughed, joked, sang and partied. I never heard him swear. Instead he would say “oh lordy”. Our loyalty to the Tar Heel basketball team never vavered. He always had the ultimate faith in God. We loved Sonny and shall miss him greatly.

  9. We are so very sorry for the passing of Mr. Campbell. He was a wonderful man & will truly be missed.

  10. May the Lord give you peace at this time of your grief. Sonny and Jane were my neighbors for some years, years ago. I think of you both often and all the children, some of which have baby sat for me on occasion. Jane was a bridge partner for several years and I still miss her.

  11. It is difficult to think of anybody more deserving of prime seats at the Kentucky Derby for all eternity than Dave and Jane Campbell. Godspeed, Dave, and thank you to you and Jane for all you did over the years to make St. Joan of Arc such a special place.

  12. What a sweet man. I will always remember Dave for his consistent and genuine kindness. He adored his family and really showed love to everyone he came in contact with. He was always even kinder than he needed to be and it was a honor to have known him . I will miss his joking and laughter , the twinkle in his eye and his wonderful friendship.

  13. Never without a story, a smile or a twinkle in the eye! Now the Irish songs are playing loud for Dave as he finds peace forever, and leaves his spirit behind for all of us!

  14. I worked with Dave at the Patton Avenue Allstate office in 1969-70 and had great respect for him. Ben Few, Don White, Morris Radcliff, Carl McIntosh and Jim Stiles…..I will always remember them and often would take my children to visit after I left there…..❤…and I am so sorry for your loss.

  19. Joey and Maire Cunningram. Kilcar Sincere condolences to all the family and the extended Campbell clan. on Sonny’s death. Although we only got to know him comparatively recently we seemed to have known him forever. We were family and no one was more family conscious than he was. We didn’t see him as often as we would have wished but he was family and that was that. We are the Irish connection and became very close. May his soul rest in peace in the company of his beloved Jane with Janice and Pete and my brother Seamus who have gone before him.

  20. Uncle Sonny was a source of joy to all who knew him. He leaves a legacy of faith and love that is upheld by his family. I know he is being greeted and embraced by his big brother and sisters in Heaven.

  21. My sympathizes to all the campbell family. I loved your dad. He was always a bright light with a smile and a laugh.

  22. Oh how we’ll miss talking the “blarney”, Mr. Campbell will always have a piece of my heart. Such a sweet man and loved to hear his tales of Ireland. So happy he went on that last trip; he loved it. We know where he is & can’t wait to see him again. Many blessings on the family, you will be in my prayers.

  23. A true icon of the Church, his leadership and example will be greatly missed. We will always have fond memories of our conversations and his related experiences of his life. We will always fondly remember our Duke/UNC friendly disagreements.
