John Hubert Ericson

John Hubert Ericson of Asheville, NC passed away on November 6th, 2020. John and Patience, his wife of 60 years, relocated to Givens Estates in June 2019 from Frenchtown, New Jersey.

John was born in Newark, New Jersey on March 17, 1933 to Eric and Ida Myrtle Ericson. He attended Lehigh University and the University of Rhode Island, graduating with a BS in Accounting. While at URI, he met Patience Jones and they married in 1960. John served honorably in the U.S. Navy and worked in the steel industry, retiring as President of Savary & Glaeser, INC., Steel Construction of New Jersey.

In retirement, John liked to keep busy. He loved spending summers with Patience and their dog on the family farm in Exeter, Rhode Island, and was honored as Tree Farmer of the Year. John enjoyed family gatherings, home renovation, playing cards, woodworking, gardening, reading and movies. While in New Jersey, John served on local school boards, town council, and served as Police Commissioner.

John is survived by his wife Patience, his sister Joan Dillon of Woodstock, CT, his three daughters Samantha Holt (Mike) of Salem, South Carolina, Faith Bowling (Terry) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Jessica Ericson of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by four grandchildren – Jake Bowling, Jack Bowling, Ross Holt and Emma Holt.

A public memorial service is not planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity in John’s name.
