Asheville Butterfly TrailLawrence “Mack” Mason, 78 of Arden, passed away January 10, 2021.
A native of McDowell County, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Lucille Aldridge Mason and was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Mason.
Mack was a proud Veteran of the US Army, and was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church for 41 years. He was employed by Associated Spring Barnes Group for 31 years and also worked for Ingles Market in Fletcher.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Harrell Mason; one daughter, Laura McDaris (Doug); three grandchildren, Lindy Wright (Jordan), Grant McDaris, Kateland Jones (Ryan), their son, Solomon, seven brothers and sisters, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A private graveside service with military rites will be held and Groce Funeral Home’s Lake Julian staff is assisting the family.

Mack and his family were neighbors when Alice and I lived in Arden. In later years, I enjoyed my periodic visits with him in Ingles in Fletcher. He was a fine man and Alice and I extend our deepest sympathy to the family.
