Judy Brown Cook, 82, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the CarePartners Solace Center.

A native of Buncombe Co., Judy was a daughter of the late Frank Reagan and Pauline Woody Brown. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Dillingham.

Mrs. Cook was an active member of the Sunday School department at West Asheville Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and making crafts. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family and grandchildren. She never missed a baseball or basketball game, and was at every sporting event. She always joined in every activity, including riding rollercoasters, ziplining, bike riding, jumping off the high dive, and snowboarding.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Young Cook; son, David Cook; daughter, Donna Pruitt (Jeff); granddaughter, Megan Hackney, special twin grandchildren, Ella and Logan Pruitt, Landon Barnes, and soon-to-be adopted granddaughter, Allie Miriam Pruitt; great-grandchildren, Harper and Greyson; sister, Janis Reese; and brother, Thomas Brown (Sharon).

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at West Asheville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Keith Hutchinson and Mr. Thom Medford officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Baptist Ministries, for the Children’s Home in Malawi, Africa, 5040 Penn Rd., Iron Station, NC 28080, please mark “In Honor of GiGi.”

  13. God’s choir just got a new member. My memories of Judy comes from her visits to my music store, Asheville Music Supply and the many community choral functions. She wore God’s love very well. Blessings to the family.
