Asheville Butterfly TrailAmy Reva King, 84, graduated to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 15, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a Buncombe County native residing in Waynesville for the past five years. She was a 1954 graduate of Leicester High School.
Reva was the daughter of the late Ernest and Margie King of Leicester, NC. She was a retired school teacher who served twenty-six years at Weaverville Elementary School.
She was an active member of Buckeye Baptist Church until 2016 when she became semi-confined to her home. She served as a Sunday School teacher, loved her place in the church choir, and served in several other church positions. She, with her husband and two other church friends, sang in a quartet for many years with Reva accompanying on the guitar.
Preceding Reva in death, in addition to her parents, was her son, Clifton; daughter-in-law, Debbie; niece, Carol Chapman; five brothers, Jack (Martha), Hubert (Peggy), Clyde, Wayne, and Hurley; two sisters, Evelyn Chapman (Leon), and Doris.
Those remaining to cherish her memory is her husband of 64 years, Leo; her son, Ernest; brother, William (Earlene); sister, Eva Worley (Doug); brother-in-law, Bob (Coila); 22 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Christine and Melinda.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20, at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

So very sorry for your loss. Reva was a godly lady and was such an inspiration to me through her beautiful alto voice, like no other I have ever heard. I will continue to hear her voice in my heart. Many prayers for you all during this time.
King children and James children attended Leicester School together. We have enjoyed Reva and her singing group many times. Our prayers are with the family.

I’m so sorry to here of Mrs. King’s passing. My condolences to the family. I was a student many years ago. She also knew my Grandparents (Gene & Doll Green) who also sang at different churches around WNC. I always wondered how she played guitar so well with her nails so long. I have thought of her many times over the years. I know she is singing in heaven! I hope she sees my grandmother, and they sing together like they used to.
