Asheville Butterfly TrailJacob Junior Ayers, 86, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the NC State Veteran’s Nursing Home in Black Mountain.
A native of McDowell Co., Jacob was a son of the late James and Minnie Creson Ayers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Roberta “Bobbie” Ayers. He was the youngest of 17 children.
Mr. Ayers was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for Cranston Print Works and was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. He was a fine Christian family man.
Surviving is his daughter, Diane Watts (Lee); sons, Gerald Ayers (Debra) and Daniel Ayers (Theresa); sister, Lillian Ayers; and 7 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery, with Rev. Allen Rash officiating.
