Wilburn William Shook, 74, of 8 Chapel Hill Lane, Leicester, died Friday, March 25, 2005, at the Hospice Solace Center. Mr. Shook was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late William Emmerson and Ollie Raye Parham Shook. He was a tobacco farmer and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife Barbara Redmon Shook; one daughter Freda Shook of Asheville; four sons, Edgebert Shook and his wife Doris, W. Carter Shook, and Richard Shook and his wife Michelle of Leicester and Robert Shook and his wife Lorna of Jacksonville, FL; three brothers Earl Shook of Konake, HI, Gerald Shook of Murfreesboro, NC and Donald Shook of Banning, CA; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Fox officiating. Burial will be at Western Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

  6. BARBARA AND FAMILY, I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW HOW SORRY I WAS TO HEAR OF WILBURNS DEATH. I KNOW HE HAD BEEN ILL FOR QUITE SOME TIME. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE SUMMER OF 1959 WHEN THE WHOLE FAMILY CAME TO VA TO VISIT AND WE WENT TO THE AMUSEMENT PARK AND WILBURN TOOK BEA AND I INTO THE TUNNEL OF LOVE. IT MUST HAVE BEEN A JOY FOR HIM BECAUSE BEA AND I WERE 7 AND 5 AT THE TIME. HE SPENT TIME WITH US PLAYING GAMES AND LETTING US WIN PRIZES. I ALSO REMEMBER THAT BEA AND I EACH STOOD ON GLENN’S FEET AND HE WALKED WITH US. SUCH MEMORIES. LOVE VICKIE
