Linda McDuffee Morgan

Resided in:
Asheville, North Carolina
Linda was born in France on April 30, 1955, to David Perry McDuffee and Margret Howard McDuffee. She was a mother, wife, grandmother, pharmacist, business executive, community and clinical trials volunteer and Parkinson’s disease fighter. Linda passed away after a long illness at 69 years old.
Linda is survived by her husband of 42 years, C. Wesley Morgan Jr., her sons, Michael McDuffee Morgan (Erica) and Neal Wesley Morgan (Anna), and three cherished grandchildren, Gabe, Reese, and Parker. She is also survived by her brother, David McDuffee Jr. (Susan); sister, Susan McDuffee Atkinson (Keith); and sister-in-law, Barbara Nesbitt.
Linda began her career as a staff pharmacist at Memorial Mission Hospital and later served as Pharmacy Assistant Director, IV Admixture Services Supervisor, and Remote Pharmacist. She was later General Manager of two home infusion companies for T2 Medical in Asheville and Greenville, SC. This was followed by her most fulfilling job as Manager of Birth Defects Prevention with The Fullerton Genetics Center, covering 24 counties in WNC.
Despite being diagnosed with Parkinson’s and later Multiple System Atrophy at the age of 50, Linda’s determination and resilience never wavered. She continued to make a profound difference in the world, volunteering as a Patient Advisor to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation and the Michael J. Fox Foundation. She served as a patient representative for the FDA and a Board of Buncombe County Board of Health member. Linda dedicated her time to other organizations, including twice as Co-Chair of Mission Foundation’s Ducky Derby fundraiser, Junior Achievement of WNC, Leadership Asheville, United Way as a loaned executive, and the March of Dimes.
To help others, Linda participated in over 26 clinical trials for Parkinson’s at Duke, John Hopkins, National Institute of Health, and Emory. Her clinical trial experiences helped with Time Magazine and the Wall Street Journal articles.
Linda’s academic achievements were a testament to her intellectual prowess and dedication. She graduated with a degree in Pharmacy from UNC-Chapel Hill, where she was a proud member of the Rho Chi Honor Society. Later, she furthered her education and received an MBA from Western Carolina University.
Linda’s love was always for her family; she believed family comes first. As a mother, wife, and grandmother, she showered her loved ones with her unwavering affection and care.

My sincere condolences Wesley, Michael, and Neal. I have fond memories of Linda from growing up with Mike (and Neal) — too many to list. However, one that comes to mind is I always loved her peanut butter and honey sandwiches when Mike and I were kids! As I grew older and understood more, I came to respect her dogged inquisitiveness and determination in the face of adversity. Please know we are thinking about you in this difficult time.
I am so very sad to learn about Linda. We became besties @T2 when we were assigned to room together at a conference. Lucky me, we remained friends long afterwards. I have followed her courageous work in research and I’m so sad for her family and her community. What a monumental loss. My thoughts are with you all. 💔
So very sorry for your loss.
Wes, we are so sorry to hear about Linda. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
I am so sorry to hear about Linda. Linda was my roommate at UNC at the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority house. We reconnected in her early stages of Parkinson’s when our sorority pledge class got together. So dear!!💕
My condolences to Wes, Michael, Neal and family members during this difficult time. Linda led a good life of selflessness and gave to others with family always coming first. Her accomplishments were many and I’m sure she was a role model to others over the years who were dealing with physical adversities. Wes and I became friends at UNC, and I always held him and his family in high regard.
So sorry to hear about Linda. We were best friend in junior and senior high school in Fayetteville. Our mothers were also close friends so we spend a lot of time together at the family home on Pearl Street. Linda was always a smart girl and excelled in everything she tackled. She made it look easy. My condolences to your family. She touched so many lives with her generous personality. May peace be with you during this difficult time.
Wes, our thoughts and prayers are with you at the passing of Linda. I enjoyed getting to meet her at the USS Cacapon reunion in Charleston, SC and recognized the love and care that you shared with each other.
I had the pleasure of visiting Linda each month for the last 8 months. She was such a precious woman, and I will miss being with her. My thoughts and prayers are with Wes and all of her family.
I had the privilege to work with Linda at Mission pharmacy.
She was a joy to work with and a great caring pharmacist.
Wes, Steve and I are so sorry to hear of Linda’s passing. I have such fond memories of sitting with her at church basketball games years ago. She was a delight. You and your sons are in our prayers.
I was so lucky to work with Linda for many years at the genetics center. She was so funny and always up for an adventure! I had a great time on a work trip in Dallas with her one year exploring the local sites, and I loved hearing about her hilarious travel stories (like stumbling across a ‘This Old House’ taping and just walking up and chatting with the crew) – she was kind, smart, fun loving, and so brave. She will be greatly missed.
