Judy Bly Greene White

Judy Bly Greene White passed on to a better life on May 10, 2025, under hospice care at CarePartners Hospice and Solace Center. A rare and beautiful person, Judy made life better for everyone lucky enough to know her through her exuberance for life and infectious laughter.

Judy had many loves throughout her life:

Her daughter Gaye Wall, the light of Judy’s life and always in her thoughts and prayers, and Gaye’s husband Kurt. Grandchildren Nikki Doyle and Kade Wall, and Great-grandchildren Zoey and Luna Doyle and Karson Wall.

Ralph White, her husband whom she married in her family home in 1959, and his brothers and their families living in a close-knit group at White Terrace in Candler.

Her sister, Ruth Inman and her brothers Jerry, Donald and Gene, and their families.

Her Momma and Daddy, Fannie and Billie, whom she cared for with all her heart.

Her Aunt Ada Decker, almost exactly the same age, with whom she played at a young child on their adjoining rocky farms on the side of the mountain at Fines Creek, and with whom Judy spoke on the phone almost every day throughout life.

Her sister-in-law and next door neighbor, Maxine White, with whom she was both neighbor and fellow teacher’s assistant, and with whom she discussed every aspect of life.

Her students at Hominy Valley and Candler Elementary schools, all of whom she loved as if they were her own children, often sharing her own food and school supplies with them to help them grow and learn and live just a bit better.

Birds and flowers in the spring; Fresh garden vegetables in the summer; Beautiful fall colors; Gently falling snow in the winter; Puppies always; and Everything about Christmas.

Cookouts with family and friends on her carport, with everyone welcome; Picnics and overnight camping and walks along the creeks at Cataloochee Valley.

Reading, which took her to places far away from her Candler home.

Judy was a rare treasure. She loved genuinely, and she made everyone as happy as she possibly could. She lived by her beliefs that the most beautiful things in life are not things. They are people & places & memories & pictures; they are feelings & moments & smiles & laughter.

Life gives us special gifts sometimes. Judy was a gift on loan from Heaven.

We will Celebrate the Life of Judy Bly Greene White at the Pole Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday, May 24th, at 1:00 pm. Everyone is encouraged to share stories, memories or pictures of Judy throughout the celebration. Judy held a special place in all our hearts.

Groce Funeral Home of Asheville is handling the cremation and burial of Judy’s remains alongside her husband Ralph in the Snow Hill United Methodist Church cemetery in Candler, adjacent to Pole Creek Baptist Church. Everyone is welcome to visit the gravesite at your convenience.
