Dennis Michael Sadelson

dennis sadelson

Dennis Michael Sadelson of Weaverville, NC and St. Augustine, FL passed away unexpectedly on June 3, 2025, in his home in St. Augustine. He was 70 years old.

Born on March 14, 1955, in Asheville, NC, Dennis was the son of the late Herbert Arnold Sadelson and Doris Burnette Sadelson. He graduated from Asheville Country Day School (Class of 1974) and went on to study at UNC Asheville and A-B Tech.

On November 12, 1983, Dennis married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Beth” Graham, in Asheville. Their marriage was a partnership rooted in deep love, laughter, faith, and family. Together they raised three children – Andrew Ross (Pia), Laura Minick (Jake), and Rebecca Gauger (Joe) – whom Dennis loved unconditionally and supported with quiet strength and unwavering devotion.

Professionally, Dennis built a successful and respected career in janitorial and paper supply sales. His personable nature and genuine care for his clients made him not only a top performer, but a trusted partner and friend to many in the field.

Dennis was a man of deep passions — his family, his faith, and the simple joys of life. He was a proud and present “Papaw” to his cherished grandchildren: Natalie, Aliyah, Manuel, Matthias, Beckett, Bella, Jude, Josie, and Milo. Whether it was a hug, a story, or a goofy joke, Dennis gave generously of himself to each of them. He found joy in life’s familiar comforts: the slapstick humor of The Three Stooges, the music of Elvis and The Eagles, a well-grilled steak, a cold beer on a warm afternoon, and long, heartfelt conversations with family and friends. He was an avid golfer, baseball fan (as well as player and coach), NASCAR supporter, and loved listening to a variety of music.

Dennis was a man of profound faith. A lifelong Catholic, his spiritual life deepened in recent years through nightly Bible study programs with Beth and the frequent praying of the rosary. His faith was not only personal — it was a quiet but steady light that guided his family and grounded his life.

Dennis was preceded in death by his brother, Les Sadelson, and sister, Verna Sadelson. In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, he survived by his brother, Gregg Sadelson, of Utah and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter that will continue to echo in the lives of those who knew him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, playful Papaw, loyal friend, accomplished professional, and faithful servant of God.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home, 1401 Patton Ave., Asheville, NC 28806.
