Marcus A. Snyder

marcus snyder

Marcus A. Snyder passed away on August 16, 2025, at the age of 82 in Asheville, NC. Born on March 8, 1943, Mark dedicated 25 years of service to the City of Asheville’s Water Department before retiring. A proud veteran, he served in the Army for four years, demonstrating a commitment to his country that was as steadfast as his dedication to his community.

Mark was a devout member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church for over 50 years, where he cherished his church family and embraced the role of serving others. His faith, and the community he found in his church, were central to his life.

After retirement, Mark found his greatest joy in being a “Papaw” to his grandchildren — a role he embraced with love and pride. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Brenda Snyder; his son, Marcus Snyder; his daughter and son-in-law, Taira and Kevin Lance; his grandchildren, Tyler Williams and Autumn Lance; his brothers, Gene and Darius Snyder; and his sisters, Jeanette Parker and Delores Norton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Celia Snyder, and his brothers, Jack and Jerry.

A visitation will be held at Saturday August 23, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Starnes Cove Baptist Church. Mark’s life was marked by his unwavering love for his family, his service to his community, and his deep faith. He will be remembered as a dedicated public servant, a loving family man, and a faithful friend.

  9. Dear Brenda and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I grew up in the same neighborhood when we were younger and his sister Jeanette and I were in the same grade at school. Times have changed and we lose contact with people but we continue to remember the good times. The Snyder family were wonderful people. My thoughts and prayer to the family.

  10. Brenda, Tara and Marcus.
So sorry to hear about Mark’s death. The comfort must be in that he is no longer in pain.
We will always have special memories of CAF and his driving the SCBC bus
