Brenda Adams Farlow, 79, passed away peacefully at her home on October 7, 2025. Brenda was preceded by her mother, Pauline Adams; father, William Adams; brother, Billy Adams; and by her husband of 51 years, John Timothy ” Tim” Farlow. Brenda was also preceded by her brothers-in-law, Louis and Al Farlow.
Born in Asheville in 1946, Brenda met Tim, the love of her life, in their West Asheville neighborhood. She and Tim dated during high school and married following her graduation from Lee Edward High School in 1964.
Brenda and Tim raised their two sons, John Timonthy “Tony” Farlow jr., and Daryl Keith Farlow in Asheville. Brenda was a devoted wife and mother and she and Tim hosted many gatherings for their extended family and friends. Brenda and Tim were also active members of Calvary Baptist Church for many years. In later years they helped cook and serve meals together at the Veteran’s Lodge in Oteen.
In 1981, Tim and Brenda purchased Braswell Scale & Equipment Company, a Mettler Toledo Scale Distributor in Western North Carolina where Tim began his career in 1962 as a bookkeeper. Brenda served as Office Manager in the family business for 19 years.
Brenda is survived by her son, Tony Farlow and wife Katy and their daughter Hali Farlow, and by her son Daryl Farlow and his wife Kayjulina. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Bruce Farlow (Linda), sister-in-law Bette Farlow, and their families, and by Jason Haralson (Leslie) and Travis Haralson (Zhanna) and their children.
A private family service will be held to celebrate Benda’s life. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to FirstLight Home Care of Asheville for their kind and loving care for Brenda in the last months of her illness, and to Four Seasons Hospice for their compassionate assistance.
