Jerry Luke Tweed, 77, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

Jerry was a lifelong resident of Western North Carolina and was the son of the late Luke and Lula Rice Tweed.

He worked for 30+ years at Gerber and enjoyed working at Lowe’s for another 11 years in retirement. In his free time, Jerry loved spending time outdoors, hunting, and his dogs. He will be remembered as a very patient man who faithfully served his Lord and his family.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Theresa Rash Tweed; daughter, Missy Evans (Eric); son, Dwayne Tweed; sister, Judy Fox; and grandchildren, Caleb Evans, Gabi Caiata (Joseph), Gavin Tweed, Tess Tweed, and Adalyn Tweed.

His family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Eric Evans, his son-in-law, and the Rev. Lewis Melton will officiate. Burial will then follow at Cedar Hill Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

    • I worked with Jerry at Gerber for many years and I would see him at Lowe’s . I bought a recipe book he was selling for school which is called 300 ways to make casseroles and I still use it to this day. He was a wonderful person to work with and talk to. Very kind soul. So sorry to hear about Jerry bless his family.
