Clement Milburn Haynie, Jr., 80, of 87 Louisiana Avenue, Asheville, died Friday, April 22, 2005, following a long illness.
A native of Florence, SC, he was a son of the late Clement M. Haynie, Sr. and Inez Lyons Haynie. A graduate of Swannanoa High School, he was a US Army veteran of WWII.

He will be familiar to many Asheville “Baby Boomers” as the man who let them “pull a window” as he worked along Haywood and College Street business fronts. Any child passing by, who was interested, was handed Mr. Haynie’s squeegee and given a chance.
Mr. Haynie is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean Teague Haynie; a son, Richard L. Haynie of Chelsea, AL; three daughters, Deborah L. King, Lisa Ann Leber and husband Jeff of Mooresville and Karen J. Haynie of the home; one granddaughter; three grandsons and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 587 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
