Jack R. Baumgartner of 44 Pebble Creek Drive, Asheville, died Thursday, April 28, 2005.
He was born in Milwaukee on July 30, 1929. He and his wife, Mary, raised their three children in Grinnell, Iowa, and later moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where they spent many years. Jack was a member of Living Savior Lutheran Church in Asheville, where he and Mary have resided for the last two years.
Jack is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Sally Baumgartner of Asheville and Laura Morreale and her husband Peter of Longmont Colorado; one son, Jon Baumgartner of Grinnell, Iowa; four grandchildren; a brother, Carl Baumgartner of Greendale, Wisconsin and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack served in the US Army with the Austrian Ski Patrol and Mountain Rescue Team. He specialized in manufacturing and held a number of administrative positions throughout his career. He enjoyed a multitude of hobbies.
A family memorial service was conducted by the Rev. John Qualmann of Living Savior Lutheran Church in Asheville.
Memorial donations may be made to the Landscaping Fund of Living Savior Lutheran Church, 301 Overlook Road, Asheville, NC 28803. The fund will be used to launch the landscape plan at the new church site.
