Rena Margaret Sluder Newman

Rena Margaret Sluder Newman, 72, of 209 Crowell Square Court, Asheville, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Hospice Solace Center. A native of Alexander, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Bertie Haney Sluder and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clinton Sluder and Garland Sluder. Survivors include a daughter, Kelly Malaga of Troy, MI; a son Allen Keith Newman of Taylor, MI; two sisters, Clara Riddle and Shirley Wheeler both of Leicester and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Charles Phillips officiating. A private burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service and request that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25388, Asheville, NC 28813.
