Rebecca Zean Hawkins Parrott, 72, of 126 Dix Creek Road #2, Leicester, died Saturday, August 6, 2005, following a brief illness at the Brian Center in Weaverville. Mrs. Parrott was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Daniel L. and Glee Daves Hawkins. She was married to Marshall L. Parrott who died in 1994. She was retired from Gay and Taylor Insurance Adjusters. For most of her life she was an active and dedicated member of Corinth Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served on numerous committees. The members of Corinth Church were special to Mrs. Parrott. She was also very active in the community and she served as president and caretaker of the Dix Creek #2 Community Center. Surviving are her son, Steven Marshall Parrott and his wife Angie; two granddaughters, Brooke Parrott and Kyleigh Parrott, and her sister Joy Hawkins all of Leicester. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Ricky Townsend and Charles Surrett officiating. Burial will be at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alex Carraway, Charles McAbee, Barry Bowlin, Buddy Cutshall, Larry Carr and Doug Metcalf. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and suggest that memorials be made to the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 61 Dix Creek Road #2, Leicester, NC 28748. The family will be at Mrs. Parrott’s home and expresses sincere appreciation to the staff of the Brian Center, Weaverville, for the loving care they provided to Mrs. Parrott.

  8. Know that the Lord never gives us more than we can bear.Remember to look to him and don’t be discouraged. We love Ms Rebecca and she has been a very positive influnence in our christian lives. I know she will be missed by everyone, but have faith in the assurance that she is home,welcomed by the Lord with his opened arms and a very proud mother and father.
