Richard F. Forester, 61, of 12 Hickory Drive, Asheville, died Saturday, November 26, 2005, at his home. Mr. Forester was a native of Catawba County and was a son of Ada G. Forester of Asheville and the late James Forester. He was a 1962 graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School, an Army veteran and was retired after 32 years with the US Postal Service. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed NASCAR Racing. He was a loving husband and father and is survived, in addition to his mother, by his wife of 37 years, Geraldine M. Forester; five daughters, Pamela Forester and her husband, Roger, of Cruso, Lisa Rogers and her husband, Johnny, of Asheville, Joy Hollifield and her husband, Jimmy, of Weaverville, Kristy Sluder and her husband, David, of Leicester, and Laura Forester of the home; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Jonathan, Hanna, Joshua, Jesse, Cody and Kaytlynn; and two brothers, Kenneth Forester of Asheville and Clifton Forester and his wife, Wanda, of Georgia. He is also survived by his special friends at the West Buncombe BP Station and by his two dogs, Sugar and Mae-Ling. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Burial will be at the NC State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain. His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and suggest that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, 434 Fayetteville Street Mall, Two Hanover Square, Suite 1600, Raleigh, NC 27601.

  10. Knew Dickie since first grade..spent many hours playing ball at Emma and hunting on Ben Lippen Mountain with him…visited many times in my youth at his home on Hazel Mill Rd…He was a really good person and I will miss him. G Smith

  11. Dickie and I went to High School together. He was insturmental in getting me my first full time job with Western Carolina Tractor Co. We worked together there until Dickie went into the service.
