Charles Edward Carver, 68, of 255 Old County Home Road, Lot 8, Asheville, died Sunday, January 26, 2003, in an Asheville hospital.
Mr. Carver was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Ed and Nellie Stone Carver. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Carver. He retired after 32 years from the Asheville City Water Department and more recently worked five years at the Asheville Civic Center.
He is survived by his wife Ann Nickerson Carver; three daughters, Tammy Ann Roland, Nellie Hyatt, and Karen Courtney and a son, Johnny Carver, all of Asheville; five sisters, Mary Johnston, Dorothy Mae Banks, Linda Israel, and Lottie Jean Bradford of Asheville and Shirley Fender of Candler; a brother Billy Carver of Asheville and four grandchildren, Jeffrey Hawkins, Jr., Brian Hyatt, Stacey Carver and Tina Hawkins.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Eugene Dodd and Harold Savell officiating. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 9 pm Monday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Tammy Roland, Lot 9, 255 Old County Home Road.
Memorials may be made to the family.
