Polly R. Pelaez, 81, of 83 Beverly Road, Asheville, died Monday, February 3, at the Hospice Solace Center. She was a native of Yancey County and a daughter of the late James and Ella Buckner Riddle. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ollie Jane Morgan and two brothers, Sam Riddle and Jeter Riddle. Mrs. Pelaez was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Oswald Pelaez; a daughter and her husband, Judie and Arthur Davis of Wilmington, NC, four sons, Oswald Pelaez, Jr. and his wife Anita, and Pete Pelaez and his wife Jan, of Asheville, Joseph Horecny and his wife Terri, of Columbia, SC, James Woods, of TN; eight grandchildren, Caitlin Pelaez, Allie and Zoie Horecny, Charles Davis, Carlos, Santino, and Joseph Pelaez, and Trish Hensley; a great-grandson Charlie Davis; two nieces Jo Ann Morgan and Rebecca Roberts; a nephew, Johnny Riddle and a brother in law and his wife Carlos and Dora Pelaez, Jr. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Doctor Buddy Corbin officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
