Mellie Lytle Youngblood, 98, of Candler, died Thursday, March 2, 2006, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A native and resident of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Lytle and Delia Vehorn Lytle. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Clyde Youngblood; a sister, Anne Lytle Owens; brothers, Forrest, John and Arthur Lytle. Mrs. Youngblood lived in the Fairview and Royal Pines communities most of her life and was an employee of Sayles Bleachery and Goldbloom’s Ready-to-Wear garment factory. She was a member of the Foster Seventh Day Adventist Church for many years and was an active member of the Dorcas Circle (presently known as Foster Community Service). Survivors include her sister, Mary Lytle Edwards of Mechanicsville, VA; nephews, Ron Lytle of Fairview, Thomas Edwards of Columbus, OH and Frank Wilkie of Taylor, SC; nieces, Pamela Morgan of San Jose, CA, Beth McPherson of Virginia Beach, VA, Barbara Black of Arden, Claudia “Cissy” Cunningham of Fletcher and Annette Beck of Fletcher, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 7:00-8:30 pm Monday, March 6, 2006, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. Her life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 12, 2006, at Foster Seventh Day Adventist Church, 375 Hendersonville Road, Asheville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Foster SDA-Community Service, 375 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
