Faye King Powell, 76, of 72 Enka Lake Trail, Candler, died Thursday, December 7, 2006, at Hospice Solace Center.
A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Inez Boyd King. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Billie M. King and a sister, Fannie Belle King.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Powell of Candler, Linda Powell Smith of Fripp Island, SC and Gina Ownbey of Candler; two sons, Joe W. Powell, Jr. of Clyde and Gregory King Powell and wife Shanda of Asheville; a sister, Jean King Rigdon and husband John of Huntsville, AL; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and her very dear friend, Evelyn “Dina” Massey.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Cecil Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Mark Ownbey, Daniel Ownbey, Steven Powell, Bryan O’Shields, Scott Smith and Jeffrey King serving as pall bearers.
Her family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home.

I’m so sorry for the loss of Faye. I love you and I wish I could be there to support you through this sad time. I hope that you can find comfort in knowing that your mom is no longer suffering and she took with her, all of the love and care that you gave to her on a daily basis.
