Richard Edgar Perkins

Arden – Richard Edgar Perkins, 88, of Ardenwoods at Averys Creek, died Sunday, December 10, 2006 at Heather Glen at Ardenwoods. A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Edgar O. and Marie Salonek Perkins and was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Marjorie Wierman Perkins, who died in 2004. Mr. Perkins was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired store manager with JC Penney. He was active in the Kiwanis, the Chamber of Commerce, and was a former deacon of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Asheville. He is survived by a daughter, Karen Ruth Koppen, and her husband R. Daniel Koppen, of Cumberland, Maine; a son, Kenneth Richard Perkins, and his wife Sandra, of Waterloo, Iowa and seven grandchildren, Jennifer Perkins Diehl, Adam, Stephanie, Michael and Joshua Perkins and Brian and Amy Koppen. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at Ardenwoods at Averys Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CarePartners Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
