Christine Penland Ingle, formerly of 28 Balsam Avenue, West Asheville, died Sunday, January 28, 2007, at St. Joseph Campus, Mission Hospitals.
Mrs. Ingle was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Weldon and Ida West Penland. She was married to Colvin E. "Chubby" Ingle, who died in 1975.
Mrs. Ingle worked as a spinnerette at American Enka Corp. for 20 years. She was an active member and the oldest charter member of Grace Baptist Church where she was a longtime Sunday school teacher and organist. She also taught piano and organ from her home. She had lived at the Marjorie McCune Center in Black Mountain for the past 16 years.
Surviving are her daughter, Judy Fisher and her husband, Tommy, of Weaverille; a son, William C. Ingle and his wife, Vickie; four grandchildren, Kenneth Eugene Fisher, Ronald Lee Fisher, Matthew Ingle and Eric Ingle; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Guy K. Penland and Hilliard Hilton Penland, both of Asheville, and a special niece, Mary Flo Sentelle of Asheville.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. L. Wayne Adkisson officiating.
Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

I will always remember Aunt Christine as a very up beat and happy person. When I visited her, at the Center, I don’t think she recognized me but she had a big smile. I have fond memories of the times we met at Grandmother’s for Christmas diner.

Charistine was just the sweetest , cutest resident. We all loved her in kitchen. She will be missed!
