TSGT RONALD DEAN BAIRD USAF, RET. Ronald Dean Baird, 69, of 163 Queen Rd., Candler, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at his residence. A Georgia native, Mr. Baird was a son of the late Harold N. and Ruth Sheet Baird. Mr. Baird retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years. He later retired from Blue Ridge Metal Co. He was a member of Stoney Fork Baptist Church. Mr. Baird is survived by his wife of 44 years, Wanda Miller Baird; daughters, Ronda Lawing, of Candler, Evelyn Everidge, and Lisa Jackson, both of Leicester; son, Marty Baird, of Candler; cousin, Gina Skully; grandchildren, Ashley, Ersin, Andrea, Autumn, Haili, McKenzie, and Chandler; and great-grandson, Myles. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel with the Rev. Charles Sprouse officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Jackson, Marvin Miller, Tim Allison, Jason Rice, Bill Bryson, and Matt Smith. His family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

  4. Your parents, is one of the warmest, most loving homes and families I’ve ever stepped into. My heart goes out to each of you. Lissa, my friend, your dad is in the loving arms of our father now. I pray for comfort for you. I know you are hurting but I also know you enjoyed your dad to the fullest and you had a closeness that you were so fortunate to have.     We can fill your loss and the pain.We can also remember a lot of great memories. We went back to the days when there was a lot of laughs (we were so young then)but God is such a loving God that He never took His eyes off us. Dean is the happy one now and is awaiting our journey to meet him. We will continue to remember you and the children in prayer. You know when and how to reach us ANYTIME.

  11. I am a first cousin and wish we could have known of Dean’s illness. I will never forget the time he stayed with us when we were kids in Kannapolis, N, C. My condolences to the family
