Jerry William Meadows

Jerry William Meadows, 88, of 982 Fletcher Martin Rd., Alexander, died Thursday, November 1, 2007, at Emerald Ridge Health Care. A native of Buncombe Co., Mr. Meadows was a son of the late Sampson and Magdalene Revis Meadows. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Myrtle Gregg Meadows, who died in 2005; and by his sons, Jessie James who died in 1997 and Richard Meadows who died in 1972. Mr. Meadows worked as a tobacco and cattle farmer, and was a member of Mountain View Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Meadows is survived by his sons, J.C. Meadows and wife Diane, of Alexander and Leonard Meadows and wife Mary Etta, also of Alexander; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Anthony Fox, Roy McPeters, and Lee Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the church’s cemetery. His family will receive friends 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.
