Lola Danita Gross, 37, of 54 Lakeshore Drive, Asheville, and 10 Mountain View Estates, Leicester, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, November 4, 2007. Miss Gross was born in Buncombe County and was disabled when she was hit by a car at the age of 11. She loved to keep house, painting and landscaping, and she especially enjoyed traveling to the beach, sightseeing and eating seafood. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Danny D. Gross; an uncle, Theodore Hutchins, her grandmother, Nellie Lee; her grandfathers, Clyde Lee, Sr. and Kenneth Earl Swartz; a special uncle Tommy Godfrey and two aunts, Patsy Buckner and Jane Middleton. She is survived by her parents, Joe and Barbara Jean Lee Brendle and Carolyn Andrick; two sisters, Patty Cole and her husband Tony of Marshall and Linda Cox and her husband, Ray, of Skyland; two brothers, Bobby Gross and his wife, Peggy, of Apex, and Randy Early of Asheville; her grandmother, Willagene Swartz; aunts, Lola Godfrey and Betty Hyatt; uncles Clyde Lee, Jr. and his wife, Geraldine, and Kenny Brendle; and a very special uncle, Troy Buckner, Jr. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm. Friday at Ashelawn Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. David Honeycutt officiating. Her family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue after which family and friends are invited to 54 Lakeshore Drive.

  8. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Lola. She was so young. I am, however, glad she is no longer suffering. I know it hurt her to lose her brother, and she never quite recovered from that. I have several good memories of Lola and she always showed my children love and tenderness.

    Everyone has special thoughts and memory’s of the times they have spent with you, I guess the most funnest and rememberable to me and Evan is going to Florida with you and Carolyn. You loved the beach and we found so many beautiful sea shells.You did love some of Gods beautiful gifts to us and the ocean was one. We are so glad we had that time with you and Carolyn. Now you are on Gods beautiful shore and sharing it with your brother. Love

    God created a special Angel, to take care of children, and those of special needs. Lola was one of those. She needed you, but not only that, you needed her. Caroyln, you are that special Angel. She is in Heaven now with Danny, Don, and Grandpa Swartz, and one day we will get to see Lola again. My thoughts and prayers are with you and her family. If you need anything, please let me know.
