Charles Allen Jenkins, 71, of Old Fort Road, Fairview, died Friday, November 30, 2007, at his home.
Mr. Jenkins was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Garland O. and Violet Stewart Jenkins. He worked as a truck driver for various companies, primarily with Hennis Freight Lines, where he worked for more than 20 years. He was a member and deacon at Riverview Baptist Church and was a member of the Apple Country Antique Tractor Club and the local Teamsters Union No. 61.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Dills Jenkins; one daughter, Denise Jenkins Haney and her husband, Joe, of Fairview; one son, Dean Jenkins and his wife, Claudette, of Fairview; and three grandchildren, Kyle Jenkins, Rachel Haney and Emeline Haney.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Carroll Ingle and Charlie Sprouse officiating. Burial will be at Cane Creek Cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
