Vera Cantrell Brigman

Arden ~ Vera Cantrell Brigman, 80, of Arden, died on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Oaks of Sweeten Creek Healthcare facility. She was born in Polk County and was the daughter of the late Arthur Vernon Cantrell and Nellie Sue Fowler Cantrell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lee Brigman and two brothers, Johnny and Jack Cantrell and a sister, Julia Brooks. She was a member of the Biltmore Church of God. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Brackett and husband Billy of Swannanoa; a son, Wayne Brigman and wife Brenda of Asheville; three grandchildren, Deanne Worley, Dwayne Brigman and Kimberly Warren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Jamieson of Pleasant Garden and Sarah Owensby of Old Fort; two brothers, Glenn Cantrell of Morganton and Raymond Cantrell of Spruce Pine. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Biltmore Church of God with the Rev. Sonia Burleson and Rev. Daniel Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the church prior to the funeral. Memorials may be made to Elizabeth House Hospice, 581 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road, Arden is in charge of arrangements.
