ETTA BLAINE BLANKENSHIP HUNTLEY Etta Blaine Blankenship Huntley, 86, of 330 Sugar Hollow Rd., Fairview, died Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Pardee Hospital after a period of declining heath. Born on October 17, 1921, in Barnardsville, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Francis and Margaret Whittemore Blankenship, of Fairview. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, G.F. "Francis" Huntley, who died in 2005; three brothers, Freneau, Olin, and Francis Blankenship; and one sister, Marjorie Miller, all from the Asheville area. 11. Gerry,

Last night, as I read about your mother’s life, I felt the beauty of her spirit. Like the beautiful flowers dotting the green fields of her beloved Fairview home, she blossomed and bestowed her grace upon the folks nestled deep within the mountains of Western North Carolina. As a role model, a mother, and a teacher, she beamed her blessings on all who were privileged to know and love her, especially you. From the first time that I remember you in high school, you were kind, gentle, positive, and budding with the sweet fragrance of life. Just like your mother.

May you, like your mother and father, always walk in the beauty of life’s sunshine and find joy in life’s simple blessings. Take care, my Dear Friend. You are loved and admired by all of your old friends. Remember that the Cedar Cliffs still look down on the fairest and best school of all. They echo back the songs as we sing them and loyally call. The mountains, the valleys, the home, and the throne, all are for you… keep your heart brave and strong.

Keep a song in your heart, Gerry, as you reflect on the beauty of the past and the hope for tomorrow.

    Barbara Fedock
