  1. David and Ann,

I am so very sorry to read of Aline’s passing. I was very surprised and saddened. I quickly recalled the many great childhood memories I have of visiting the farm, trying to milk the cows, and eating the very best meals I have ever had. She cooked on a wood stove back then, and I was amazed, even as a kid, at the number of pies she baked and the quarts of green beans and other vegetables that she canned. And I remember Aline laughing a lot! My mother and she would tease each other and talk and talk about everything, especially us kids. We would picnic at Gay’s lake, shoot snakes and pick blackberries, and she was always on top of things. And regardless of how much work needed to be done, she always approached it with humor and good will. Although Mother can no longer remember most of her past, I will remind her of Aline and our stories. And I pray your grief will be tempered by good memories of your mother’s well lived life. And I pray, too, that God will bless you, your families, and give us all a stronger hope for the future.
