Carrie Louise "Lulu" Stamey, 62, of 30 Evelyn Acres Dr., Asheville, died on Monday, January 26, 2009, at Memorial Campus Mission Hospitals.
A native of Haywood Co., Ms. Stamey was the daughter of the late James Lawrence and Mamie Smith Singleton. She was also preceded in death by her son, Eric Lee Stamey, and brothers, William Edward Singleton, and Ronald Singleton.
Ms. Stamey attended the Luther Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Tina L. Stamey and fiancé Matias Reyes, of Asheville; son, Jerry Lee Stamey, of Asheville; sisters, Janette Banks, and Jo Ann Boone; brother, Jimmy Hewitt, all of Candler; and grandson, Dakota Stamey.
A funeral service for Ms. Stamey will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Allen Rash and Betty Drake officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
