ARDEN ~ Eric C. Meece, 60, of 777 Glenn Bridge Road, died Saturday, August 16, 2003. A native of Henderson County, he was son of the late Roy and Lillian Mirian Marlowe Meece. He was employed at Ecusta Paper Mills with thirty seven years of service. Eric was a member of Fletcher First Baptist Church and was choir director, taught Sunday School and served as a deacon at various churches. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved golf. Surviving is his wife, Natalie Jones Meece; two daughters, Renee Dillingham of Barnardsville and Rhonda Glover of Spartanburg, SC; one son, Randall Eric Meece of Lake Toxaway; three sisters, Jeannie Marriott of Ogden, Utah, Eithel O’Kelly of Asheville and Nanci Garren of Arden; five brothers, Kermit Meece of Daleville, AL., Arvel Meece of Raleigh, Boyce Meece of Asheville and David and J.P. Meece both of Arden; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Jared and Eric Dillingham, Stephanie, Paul and Samantha Glover, Nanthaniel Meece and Lakin Moss. Eric is also survived by a number of neices and nephews along with many friends. Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at Fletcher First Baptist Church with the Reverends Roy Waldroup, Charlie and Steven Glover, T.J. Dillingham and Evangelist Tom Hayes officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:30pm Monday at Fletcher First Baptist Church.

    As I stood and chatted with you last Sunday at Uncle Dave’s funeral I never imagined that you would suffer such a loss so soon. Eric was a good man and I remember him vividly throwing ball with Randy in the field when we were kids. He always had time to sit with his family and laugh. May God grant you peace as only He can do during this difficult time. I’m praying for you.

  9. Sorry to hear about your loss of Eric.Although i didn’t know your family that much we want you to know we are thinking of you at this time. I remember Eric stopping by the store every morning to get his coffee on the way to work. Also Renee worked at Ingles with Carolyn and me. Our prayers will be with you at this time.   12. Mac and Eric worked together at Ecusta and Erice painted out house when we bought on Franklin StBrevard.He always had time to speak and talk to me when I worked at Ecusta Credit Union. We are very sorry for your loss as well as a loss to Mac and I. He gave Mac a hard time only because he and Mac liked each other and are friends. Mac and I stopped by about five months at your house for a visit on a Saturday afternoon and no one was at home. So sorry we missed seeing you;but you had no idea what out plans were to visit. This is Monday night around 9:00 pm and Wade McGuire has just called to tell Mac about the accident that caused Eric’s death. You are in our prayers.

  13. My husband & I both worked with Eric as well as Randy at Ecusta. I also knew Eric through mutual friends and thought he was a wonderful, caring person. A good Christian man who loved and cared about others. I wanted to share with you as Erics family that he loved and cared about his family very deeply.
    He always had a laugh and smile as he walked past our machines at work. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
    Our love and prayers go to each family member but especially his wife who I did not know and to Randy and his lovely family who I knew and thought a lot of. May God Bless and Comfort all of you.
