Ophelia Cole Parks

Ophelia Alma Cole Parks, 82, of 85 Salola Street, Asheville, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at St. Joseph Campus, Mission Hospital. Mrs. Parks was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Henry Grady Cole and Willie Hutchison Cole. She was a graduate of Blanton's Business College and she retired from the National Climatic Data Center in the Federal Building. She had been a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church since the 1930's. She is survived by her two sons, Robert E. Parks of Asheville and Jerry Wayne Parks of Belleview, FL; her brother, Ormond A. Cole and his wife, Naomi, of Leicester; two grandchildren, Chase Cole Parks of Tryon and Olivia Waverly Parks, currently enrolled at Virginia Tech; two nephews, Gary and Anthony Cole; a great niece and great nephew, and a very dear family friend, Beverly Bell. A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby Smith officiating.
