Thelma Lytle Miller

Thelma Lytle Miller, 95, of Fairview, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009, at JF Keever Solace Center in Asheville. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Emory and Minerva Harris Lytle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Miller, Sr.; a daughter, Janice Clark; sisters, Gertrude Redmon, Belva Skanse and Virginia Hendrix; brothers, Walter, George, Howard, Vernon, Boyce and Harold Ray Lytle. Mrs. Miller was valedictorian of the 1931 graduating class of Fairview High School. She worked for 27 years at Beacon Manufacturing in Swannanoa and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher for many years. Left to treasure her memory are her son, Paul Miller, Jr. and his wife Callie; granddaughters, Susan Miller and Darlene Young (Tommy); two great-grandsons, Robert and Gregory Young; a sister, Mary Lanning of Fairview; several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and other family and friends. Her family offers a special thanks to the staff of Becky's Rest Home for the excellent love and care given to "Granny" over the past two years. Funeral services will be 6:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Gene King and H.L. Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Sunday at Cane Creek Cemetery. Flowers will be appreciated but the family requests donations be made to Carepartners Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
