A memorial service for John B. Lewis, who died Sunday, June 28, 1998, will be held at 3:30 pm Tuesday in the Trinity Episcopal Church, of which he was a member.   The Rev. John C. Southern, Jr. will officiate and the family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.

John was a rising junior at Asheville High School where he was on the varsity soccer team, a kicker with the football team and on the varsity basketball team.  He was active with the YMCA Leader's Club, helped as a youth soccer coach and was on the traveling soccer team, 'Arsenal'.    In addition to his sports interests and activities, John was an honor student.

John is survived by his parents, Benjamin B. and Becky Reynolds Lewis; two sisters, Susan of Asheville and Chapel Hill, Amy of Asheville and Raleigh and his maternal-grandmother, Mrs. John M. Reynolds of Asheville.In lieu of flowers, John's family asks that memorials be made to the John B. Lewis Scholarship Fund, C/O the Asheville City Schools Foundation, P.O. Box 3196, Asheville, NC 28802.

  1. To Ben and family. My heart goes out to you and your family. I nerver met any of your family members with exception of your father, a fine gentleman, back in the Belks on Patton days. I have heard a lot of good things about your son and having raised six children now myself, well you know and I don’t but I belive I can understand some of your loss.     i was just passing throw when i saw it . and i was just wounrding whathappen to him .
