R.D. Terry, 79, of 78 Hookers Gap Road, Leicester, died Saturday,
October 10, 1998, at the Hospice Solace Center.
Mr. Terry was born in Livingston, TN and was a son of the late James
and Tinnie Witcher Terry. He was raised in Gallatin, TN, and had lived in
Leicester for 53 years. He was an Army veteran of WW II and was a
member of VFW Post 891. He was the owner and operator of Newfound
Grocery and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruby Anders Terry; three sons
and daughters-in-law, Garland and Twyla Terry of Greeneville, TN,
Gordon and Rebecca Terry of Leicester, Ronald and Viola Terry of
Leicester; four sisters, Lucille Kritner of Cullman, AL, Pauline Stewart of
Cooksville, TN, and Lorene Case and Gladys Case of Hendersonville, TN;
two brothers, James and Fred Terry of Gallatin; six grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday at Groce Funeral Home
with the Revs. Michael Scroggs and Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will
follow at New Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Canton.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Sunday at Groce
Funeral Home and request that memorials be made to Mountain Area
Hospice, PO Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802.
